Dr. Richard Bayley William Magee Seton
The Seton Children Willian Seton, Sr.

William Magee Seton

n 1768 William Magee Seton, the man destined to be the love of Elizabeth Bayley's life, was born. William was schooled in England and completed his education on the Continent. In Leghorn, Italy, he became close friends with the Filicchis, a family that would play a significant role in the life of Elizabeth Seton.

When William wooed the beautiful and vivacious Eliza Bayley, he was a sophisticated young man. The young debutante fell deeply in love with him. Their courtship was filled with the pleasures of the day — the theatre, dancing and music. Married in 1794, the young Setons were prominent in New York society.

In 1803 William Seton died in Italy.
